Kuopio University Hospital is one of the leading teaching hospitals in Finland. Annually health care students from Finland and abroad, spend over 30.000 clinical practice days in our hospital.

COVID-19 instructions

We expect students to possess a level of vaccination coverage equivalent to that required of personnel in the unit they intern in. Vaccination is always voluntary. In the beginning of the internship, on its first day, the student’s level of immunity to COVID-19 is investigated (vaccination or previous illness). Please, read this instruction, fill up the form and take it with you to the clinical practice.

High quality clinical placements

The staff of Kuopio University Hospital is committed to high quality supervision through the clinical practice period. We collect students' feedback with CLES-scale (Clinical Learning Environment and Supervision -Scale) after every clinical practice and develop our supervision based on the feedback from students. Our aim is that everyone who works as a supervisor/mentor for student in clinical practice, has passed the mentor education course.

Clinical nursing teachers work in co-operation with schools and clinical placements so that we can provide the best clinical practice for every student. Please, do not hesitate to contact us if you have anything to ask about the clinical practice in our hospital.
