On weekdays, the health center has appointment hours for a doctor, nurse and community health nurse who treat patients needing acute care under normal appointment practices. Nurses have their own acute appointments and also perform treatment needs assessments. The inpatient ward at Kaavi health centre cares for patients in North-East Savo (Kaavi and Rautavaara) around the clock.

Juankoski Health Center operates doctor's emergency services for patients needing urgent care Mon–Fri 4 p.m.–6 p.m., and weekends 8 a.m.–6 p.m. Emergency services are at Kuopio University Hospital 6 p.m.–8 a.m. every day.

Laboratory services and X-ray

Patients need a referral from a physician or nurse for the examinations. If you have a Finnish Sickness Insurance (Kela/SII) card, this will speed up the process. Radiographic examinations are performed at Juankoski Health Center.

Oral health care

Dentist and dental hygienist services are available on weekdays at Kaavi health center. The entire population of the municipality are entitled to dental care. Children under 7 are usually called in for a check-up every year. There are emergency appointments available for patients needing emergency care on weekdays. During weekends, emergency dental services are arranged at Kuopio.
