Emergency Medical Services

Kuopio University Hospital District is responsible for arranging emergency medical services in North Savo. On an annual level, prehospital emergency care units handle more than 40,000 emergency tasks.

Kuopio University Hospital District administers the Prehospital Emergency Care Center for Kuopio University Hospital's specialist medical care area (North Savo, Central Finland, North Karelia, South Savo, and East Savo). The principle task of the center is to arrange prehospital emergency care services around the clock at the specialist level.

The on-call specialist in prehospital emergency care is stationed at the air ambulance base at Rissala Airport. The Prehospital Emergency Care Center is also in charge of the radio network operations of social and health care authorities in Kuopio University Hospital's specialist medical care area.
