Childhood Diseases

Under-16-year-olds who need specialist medical care, but do not need to be hospitalised, are treated at the Paediatric Outpatient Clinic. Clinic patients require a referral and, the examinations needed for the visits are mainly booked already based on the referral.

Various paediatric and adolescent diseases are examined and treated at the Paediatric Outpatient Clinic. Paediatricians and specialising physicians are in charge of the examinations and care of the children in collaboration with the nursing staff and a multidisciplinary working group. All paediatric specialities are represented.

Day hospital operations and theme days

The outpatient clinic has day hospital operations that include drug infusions and food and drug provocation tests. In addition, the functions of the outpatient clinic include rehabilitation counselling, coping with the disease, and theme days.

For nursing and medical students and specialising physicians, the Paediatric Outpatient Clinic acts as a teaching outpatient clinic. Research in paediatrics is conducted in co-operation with the University of Eastern Finland.
